Footy Tipping – How to Tip For AFL

Everyone thinks they know it all in Australia when it comes to footy. I don’t claim to know it all but I am an alright tipper this year in 2010. AFL or Australian Football League is a well known sport in Australia. There are 16 teams all playing each other each season to see who ends up on top of the ladder.

So how do we tip for AFL? There are many tipping competitions that people can enter for free. Some companies like to run their own and pool some money together and see who tips the best. I have currently joined a tipping competition with Sportsbet. I’m not doing too bad and have been averaging over 5 correct tips each round.

To make tipping a bit more clearer. There are 22 rounds that we can place tips for in an amazing footy season and each round has 16 teams playing each other. The amazing teams that make up the current AFL game are:

– Melbourne
– St Kilda
– Fremantle
– Richmond
– West Coast
– North Melbourne
– Adelaide
– Sydney
– Carlton
– Hawthorn
– Port Adelaide
– Geelong
– Essendon
– Brisbane Lions
– Collingwood
– Western Bulldogs

There are teams that have been playing very well the past few years and there are teams that are playing poorly. This year in 2010 Richmond hasn’t been playing so well and so hasn’t Adelaide. Collingwood and Geelong are playing very great footy week after week. Tipping is more than just guessing which teams will win each round. In order to be a great footy tipper you need to look at past performance and statistics.

Statistics are what a lot of tippers base their tips on. Sometimes it is just gut feeling. Everyone has their own way of tipping who will win. There is no correct way but in most of the cases Sport betting agencies have odds for each team in each game and usually you can tell from the odds who is the favourite.
